From February 7 to 9, Jelgava will host one of the largest ice sculpture events – the 26th International Ice Sculpture Festival. This year, 32 ice sculptors will bring their vision of the theme “THE STORY OF THE UNIVERSE” to life in ice, using a total of more than 80 tons of ice in their works.
More than 60 ice objects will be created as part of the festival. The festival in Jelgava will take place in three locations: Pasta Island, Jāņa Čakstes Boulevard and Pasta Island Skating Rink. During the festival, famous artists from Latvia and Lithuania will perform, there will be demonstrations of ice sculpture making, programs for children, fire shows, ice games, an ice bar and other surprises.
With the onset of darkness, the sculptures will glow in multi-colored light plays, allowing the imagination to soar beyond the expanses of the earth.
Tickets can be purchased cheaper in advance until January 31, 2025: in Latvia at the “Biļešu Paradīze” box office, as well as at the Jelgava Culture House box office, and on the website www.bilesuparadize.lv
