The 27th Gauja River Timber Rafting festival will take place in Strenči on May 17-18 on the beach near Gauja River and the open-air stage. The festival honors the skill of timber rafting, which has been included in UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage since 2022. There are still men in Strenči who master this skill and are happy to show it to others, inviting people to gather at the annual Gauja River Timber Rafting festival. The two-day program includes a market of craftsmen and home-makers, a gathering of Vidzeme brass bands, an open-air cinema, concerts, excursions, sports games and joyful dances at the ball.
