On 31 March, the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia will host the Big Easter Celebration - with a large artisans' and food producers' market, egg dyeing and rolling, swinging in various kinds of large and very large swings, folk songs and dances.

Easter in nature marks the moment when light overcomes the darkness. The increase in daylight will be followed by the awakening of nature. Swinging – rising towards the Sun – is a symbolic act that is supposed to stimulate the forces of rebirth and fertility. It is also an action that harmonises the world, involving both an upward movement and a graceful descent.
