During the Winter Solstice local craftsmen from far and wide will gather in Valmiermuiža to offer real countryside goods to the visitors of the market. Since ancient times Latvians have set up richly served tables to celebrate Winter Solstice. Pig snout, grey peas, bacon rolls, beer – nothing was missing. They say you have to eat a lot of peas during Christmas to have lots of money. Therefore, Valmiermuiža will gather local producers from all around Latvia, offering homemade bread, cheese, smoked goods, lamprey, honey, herbal teas, spices, mulled wine, juice, candied fruit, hard candy, gingerbread cookies and lots more. Goods made by local craftsmen will be excellent presents for your beloved ones – jewellery with Latvian symbols, woollen socks, mittens, crochets, hammered work, wooden toys. During the market guests will have an opportunity to buy goods and products made by local craftsmen, learn more about customs and traditions, enjoy music concert, take part in creative workshops and to feast with delicacies made by the masters of flavour from Valmiermuiža.
