On October 12, the Simjūds Market in Valmiera will welcome around 350 vendors. The Simjūds market in Valmiera has been organized since the Medieval Ages, later growing and developing under the specific name Simjūds. It is thus one of the oldest in Vidzeme and the last one before winter sets in. The market's name comes from St. Simon and St. Jude's Day, marked on the calendar at the end of October. There were times when the market was a unique three-day celebration attended by all, young and old, and even the shepherds were given a day to enjoy the market right in the heart of Valmiera.
