On October 24, the new restaurants included in the 2025 edition, as well as those that won the coveted Michelin star, were announced at the House of Blackheads (Latvian: Melngalvju names) Last year, 26 restaurants from all over Latvia were included in the guide, including "Max Cekot Kitchen", which became the first Latvian restaurant to be awarded a "Michelin" star.
Restaurant "JOHN Chef's Hall" in Riga enters the selection of restaurants with one "Michelin" star. It is a small place with four tables and ten seats, located next to the "JOHN" restaurant in the A22 Hotel, already included in the "Michelin" guide last year. "JOHN Chef's Hall" joins the restaurant "Max Cekot Kitchen", which also retains one Michelin star this year. "Michelin" inspectors especially appreciated the use of ingredients of domestic origin and the fact that the preparation of many dishes is completed at the table, creating an opportunity to involve visitors and interact with each other.
"Michelin" inspectors this year were happy to add five Riga restaurants to the selection of Latvia - "B7", "Babo", "LOWINE", "Seasons" and "Stage 22".
The recently opened restaurant "B7" by experienced chef Valters Zirdziņš has a vibrant yet cozy atmosphere with a casual vibe. The chef personally prepares and serves dishes, offering aromatic, modern meals inspired by various world cuisines. "Michelin" inspectors recommend couples sample four dishes together or opt for the tasting menu to enjoy a wide range of flavours.
Opened in the summer of 2024, the restaurant "BABO" is already considered a unique but still little-known gem. Established by experienced restaurant managers, the menu is inspired by Georgian cuisine, the homeland of one of the owners. "Michelin" inspectors appreciate this distinctive culinary style and suggest each guest order two dishes to share. Their favourite recommendations include beef and pork khinkali, salmon in walnut sauce, and "Tabaka" chicken with salt and lemon.
The wine bar "LOWLINE" focuses on wines, as one would expect, and offers a relaxed atmosphere along with a private courtyard for warmer days. The wine selection mainly features natural wines, with the menu changing weekly to provide guests with new and interesting options. The food menu combines both traditional and modern dishes, ensuring there is something for everyone.
In the small but luxurious "Grand Palace Hotel," you’ll find the elegant restaurant "Seasons" and a nearby bar with an interior enriched with antiques and fine artworks. "Seasons" offers a seasonal menu, using Latvian products whenever possible, and draws inspiration from the world's finest artists.
The "Stage 22" restaurant, located on the top floor of "Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga," provides guests with a beautiful view of the park and city skyline. "Michelin" inspectors recommend starting with a drink at the elegant cocktail bar or on the terrace to fully enjoy the view, and then settling into the plush seats to savor a wide selection of Asian-inspired dishes.
The Bib Gourmand award highlights restaurants that offer good quality food at a great price. In 2025, all three restaurants in Riga - "Milda", "Shōyu" and "Snatch" - which previously won the Bib Gourmand award, retained their award.
"Pavaru māja" in Līgatne will also retain the Green Star obtained last year in the 2025 guide. The restaurant supplies itself with home-grown vegetables and herbs from its beds and regular procurement trips, while the rest of the ingredients are purchased from local suppliers. The Michelin Green Star is awarded to restaurants that are leaders in the field of sustainable gastronomy. These restaurants offer dishes that combine culinary excellence with an excellent, eco-friendly approach, becoming an inspiration to both foodies and the hospitality industry at large.
