Until the middle of the 20th century, there were port warehouses or so-called "spīķeri". Now there is the Ostas Street promenade also known as Ventmala with several notable tourist objects - the castle of the Livonian Order, the excursion boat "Hercogs Jēkabs", the monument to Kr. Valdemārs, the figural flower bed "Mārītes", etc.
The new Ostas Street promenade is also made attractive by specially designed and chosen lighting lanterns and sidewalks made of various types of attractive cobblestone pavements, including a clinker cobblestone bike path.
